Reports from 90min.com are claiming that Newcastle have made a fresh loan offer for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.

The 29-year-old has been heavily linked this window and the Magpies are set to ‘push again’, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The new terms that the Toon Army are putting forward is a loan deal, offering Man United £10million. Lingard’s deal in Manchester runs out this summer – the club wants to sell, while the player wants a loan.

It is reported that the once England international is hoping to decide his own fate in the summer, once he is a free agent. Newcastle have also got backup options they want to bring in if they’re unable to land Lingard.

Newcastle are really pulling all the stops out to land Lingard

A move away would surely help Lingard break his way back into contention for an England callup. The World Cup is at the end of this year in Qatar and the 29-year-old will hope he can find his way into the squad. He currently has 32 caps to his name thus far.

Lingard could be the kind of acquisition that the Toon Army need. At the minute our midfield seems a bit short of creativity. At West Ham, Lingard looked a real handful. His contribution was key in an impressive season for the Hammers, netting nine goals and providing four assists.

This season at Man United he really hasn’t got the game time he was hoping for. At Newcastle, he would certainly get the minutes and should he succeed, he’d become an instant hit with the fans.

It seems that the Magpies are really serious about their pursuit of Lingard. The offer you’d think would make the Red Devils think again due to the cash involved. It may very well make them approve a loan deal.

The Magpies are reportedly growing in confidence that he will join this week according to the Telegraph.

The Toon Army have a ‘Plan B’ should the Lingard deal fall through

With the midfield being an area that is being looked at for improvement, Newcastle haven’t put all their eggs in the Lingard basket. The club has a couple of other midfielders in consideration should they not be able to sign him.

The first player is Tottenham’s Dele Alli. He’s fallen down the pecking order at Spurs and is looking to be offloaded by Spurs. The same 90min.com report states that the Magpies have held talks with Tottenham over the services of Alli.

Chelsea’s Ross Barkley is another option considered by the Toon Army. 90min.com claim the two clubs have also had talks over the English midfielder. It’s been a difficult season for Barkley who has failed to impress since returning to Stamford Bridge.

Lingard is Newcastle’s first choice and rightly so. He’s shown his capabilities at West Ham last season and could provide a spark that the Magpies’ midfield often lacks.

Alli is a logical plan B – someone who, if given consistent minutes, could be a man reborn. As for Barkley, he fizzled out in his loan spell at Aston Villa last season. His run at Chelsea has left a lot to be desired and makes you question if he still has it anymore.

Some fans are excited about the prospect of Lingard heading to Tyneside. The fresh offer is certainly improved, and the club will hope it can convince the higher-ups at Manchester United to let him go.
