One Newcastle United academy star has been catching the eye of coaching staff during training.
Improving youth facilities and investing in the academy has been at the forefront of PIF’s plans since their Newcastle takeover in 2021.
The club are now beginning to reap the rewards from that investment with a wave of young, exciting talents coming through the ranks at Newcastle.
Eddie Howe believes Newcastle have produced two “elite” players from their academy, one of which is Lewis Miley.
Improving the academy is part of Newcastle’s plan to “bust PSR” with the leadership hoping that Newcastle can develop talent rather than import it.

Anthony Munda is impressing Newcastle coaching staff
There is an exciting generation of players on the brink of Newcastle’s first team, with four academy stars pushing for their debut.
Trevan Sanusi is highly-rated at Newcastle and will hope to make his debut under Howe shortly, but fellow academy star Anthony Munda is also drawing attention to himself.
According to The Athletic journalist Chris Waugh, Munda has impressed Newcastle staff in training alongside Sanusi.
Munda was recently promoted by Howe to train with the first team ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League clash against Brighton.
Waugh adds that Munda’s “development is being monitored closely”.
Anthony Munda will have to be patient at Newcastle
At 18 years old, Munda will be knocking on the door of the first team hoping for an opportunity to shine.
By the sounds of it, he is very close to being given that opportunity. But his biggest issue is that central midfield is Newcastle’s strongest position.
Howe has struck a good balance in midfield in recent weeks through the trio of Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock – but that has come at the cost of leaving £55m signing Sandro Tonali on the bench.
Academy star Miley has also returned to fitness and will hope for minutes in the first team this season.
It means Munda will have to be patient for his chance in the first team. However, Newcastle know better than anyone how challenging European fixtures can be on a squad. If the Magpies can qualify, that could be his golden ticket into the side.
