Newcastle have one youngster valued even higher than Lewis Miley, he ranks 31st in the world

Breakthrough academy star Lewis Miley is priceless to Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene last season, softening the blow of Newcastle’s injury crisis.

Lewis Miley made a total of 30 appearances for Newcastle in the 2023/24 season, including 17 consecutive appearances in the Premier League.

He suffered an injury and missed the latter stages of the season and missed the start of the new campaign due to a metatarsal fracture, but has now returned to fitness.

Eddie Howe claimed Miley looks like a “changed athlete” after returning to the first team, and he made his first appearance of the season as a late substitute against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Miley has been compared to Ballon d’Or winner Rodri after his immense breakthrough, and Newcastle will be keen to keep hold of their homegrown talent for years to come.

Lewis Miley is not Newcastle United’s most valuable youngster

Miley is viewed as a future gem at Newcastle, but a study this week suggests one youngster is even more valuable than the 18-year-old midfielder.

CIES Football Observatory compiled a list of the 100 most valuable players aged under 21, ranked based on their calculated transfer value.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal ranked first with a value of €180m (£150m) while Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was second with a value of €115m (£95m).

Newcastle had two players on the list with Lewis Miley ranking 44th in the list with a value of €33m (£28m).

But even higher up in the rankings was Newcastle teammate Lewis Hall at 31st, who at 20 years old is valued at €39m (£32m).

Lewis Hall is becoming a star at Newcastle United

Hall endured a tough start at Newcastle after initially joining on a loan deal from Chelsea.

He broke into the first-team late last season and Hall’s move became permanent for £28m this summer.

Since then, Hall has gone from strength to strength and is now on the brink of an England call-up under Thomas Tuchel.
