Former Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron is enduring a rough patch at Atlanta United.
Almiron left Newcastle United in January, returning to the Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit to huge fanfare.
Initially, things started well – at least on an individual basis. The 31-year-old provided an assist on his second debut for the club during a win over Montreal Impact.
Almiron scored a header against New York City FC, something he’d never done in 223 appearances for Newcastle.
Things, however, have stalled for the team as a whole since.
Atlanta manager Ronny Deila was critical of Almiron for missing chances against FC Dallas and the former Celtic boss has just made a worrying admission about his team in general.

Atlanta United manager makes worrying admission as Miguel Almiron’s dream return falters
The Norwegian saw his side lose 3-0 to Orlando City on Saturday night.
That means they have now tasted defeat in their last three games, a run that includes consecutive 3-0 defeats.
Speaking after the game, Deila admitted his team are amongst the worst in the MLS right now.
He said (via Atlanta’s official website): “We have to attack the situation.
“We cannot think about every point we should have had or where we should have been.
“We are not there. We are now the team that is performing the worst in the league.”
Why did Miguel Almiron leave Newcastle United?
The forward was key part of Eddie Howe’s side during the Champions League qualification season of 2022-23.
However, with the form of Jacob Murphy this season, the forward was limited to only 14 appearances across all competitions before eventually leaving in January.

Almiron sent an emotional message to Newcastle fans after leaving and it seems the lack of first-team football was the major reason as to why he departed.
Prior to leaving, Almiron’s agent confirmed he was “not happy” with his role at Newcastle, having largely been dropped from Howe’s first-team.
Hopefully for Almiron, Atlanta United can soon start to turn things around, starting with their with their clash at home to Nashville on Saturday.
