Newcastle United have been linked with signing young winger Gustav Isaksen, and the 21-year-old already has an agreement to leave Midtjylland next year.

That is according to the Danish club’s CEO, who has confirmed that the wonderkid could be allowed to leave as early as January if a big offer comes in.

That news could entice Newcastle, who are in the market to sign a winger when the transfer window opens. The Magpies tried to sign one during the summer, but failed to bring anyone in.

Luckily, Miguel Almiron has stepped up, scoring seven goals so far this season. October was an incredible month for the Paraguayan, and he has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.

Miggy’s form has forced Newcastle to change their transfer plans. According to the Athletic, Dan Ashworth is no longer limiting his search for a winger to players who can only operate on the right.

And in Isaksen, they could secure a player who is capable of playing on both flanks.

What Claus Steinlein has said about Newcastle target Gustav Isaksen

Midtjylland CEO Claus Steinlein has recently spoke to Tipsbladet, and addressed Isaksen’s future at the club.

“We have made an agreement with Gustav, his family and agent that he will stay until the summer, and then we will sell,” he said.

“However, the offer may become too large, and I fear that it will.

“I was made aware a week ago that the biggest sale in the history of the Superliga is €20million, and if he has to leave, we have to beat it.

“It is realistic when you look at what has happened in the last week, and you know which clubs are looking at him. It could well be really exciting, and otherwise he will have to stay at FC Midtjylland for half a year more.”

Toon targeting another bright young star

Since the club changed hands last year, the transfer strategy has undergone a revamp. As well as signing players for the first-team, Newcastle are also looking to bring in some of the brightest young talent from across the globe.

The Magpies are already set to do that in January, with Garang Kuol set to join. There is also speculation over a move for Brazilian teenager Andrey Santos.

And now Isaksen is another wonderkid being linked with a move to St James’ Park. Calciomercato believe we could challenge AC Milan for his signature.

However, he has a decent amount of experience for someone who is just 21-years-old.

Isaksen has been shining in this season’s Europa League, helping Midtjylland qualify for the next round. They sealed their place in the knockout stages with a 2-0 win over Sturm Graz on Thursday night, with Isaksen getting both assists for his side.

The winger now has seven goals and three assists in all competitions this season, and those numbers will encourage Toon scouts.

Should they decide to move for Isaksen next summer, they will find willing sellers in Midtjylland, who have already agreed to let him leave.

But if an offer of more than £17.5million comes in during January, they could be convinced to let him go early.
