Newcastle transfer news: Toon confident of signing Andrey Santos in January

Newcastle United are reportedly planning on signing Andrey Santos in the January transfer window.

The Magpies have already lined up one deal for 2023. It was announced recently that Garang Kuol has agreed to join Newcastle, and he will officially become a Toon player in January.

The 18-year-old Australian is one for the future, with Sporting Director Dan Ashworth looking to snap up some of the best young talent from across the globe.

It was recently reported by i News that the next market Newcastle want to tap into is South America, and that brings us to Andrey Santos.

Newcastle have been linked with the Vasco Da Gama midfielder in recent months. It was been claimed in Brazil that the two clubs have already been in contact over a deal. And now 90min have provided some more information on the Magpies’ pursuit of the 18-year-old.

They state that talks are continuing between Newcastle and Vasco, and that Eddie Howe’s side are confident they can agree a deal.

He will reportedly cost more than £20million, and that is not putting Newcastle off. That speaks volumes about how highly rated Santos is. That is a lot of money for a teenager, and suggests he has a lot of potential.

Santos is certainly an exciting player, and someone who has been likened to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets. He is also a big fan of Bruno Guimaraes, who is currently the best player at the club.

90min add that Newcastle are looking to repeat the Kuol deal and agree a transfer before the January window opens.

This reaffirms the club’s commitment to a bright future. Efforts are being made to bring in players who can become stars at St James’ Park.

The new owners’ project isn’t about instant success. It is about building a club that can be at the top for a long time. Signing talented teens will help make that dream become a reality.

If Santos does arrive, he will become the third Brazilian at the club alongside Bruno and Joelinton. And if he impresses quickly, we might have the prospect of seeing them all play together in midfield.

But that would be getting ahead of ourselves. For now, there is reported confidence that Andrey Santos could join the club in 2023.

He is one for the future, and that future appears to be very bright.
