Despite leaving Newcastle United, Mehrdad Ghodoussi is still keeping track of goings on at St James’ Park.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi and his wife Amanda Staveley left Newcastle United last summer, as they sold their shares in the club after making the takeover happen in 2021.

The duo were adored on Tyneside, and it came as a surprise when their departure was announced in July 2024.

Now another Toon departure is on the horizon, with Miguel Almiron set to leave Newcastle United.

The 30-year-old is due to return to Atlanta United after six years, as Almiron says his goodbyes to his Newcastle United teammates.

He has been a key member of the squad over the past few years, and played a pivotal role in helping Newcastle qualify for the Champions League in 2023. He also scored one of Newcastle’s most famous ever goals, netting the first goal as Eddie Howe’s side beat Paris Saint-Germain.

But now Almiron’s Toon career is coming to an end, and he has received a message of support from Ghodoussi.

He wrote on X: “Miguel Almiron. Best of luck my friend.”

After six years on Tyneside, Almiron is set to leave Newcastle United. He has enjoyed a lengthy career with the Magpies, but now is the right time to leave.

Every Toon fan will echo Ghodoussi’s message, as they wish Almiron all the best as he returns to the MLS to play for Atlanta United once again.

But as Almiron leaves the Premier League, it remains to be seen if Ghodoussi will return. It has been reported that Ghodoussi and Staveley are interested in investing in Tottenham Hotspur.

It would be a major surprise to see them involved with a club that is a rival to Newcastle United, but they are business people at the end of the day.

Ghodoussi was recently spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for an NFL game in October, almost three years to the day that he was part of the Newcastle United takeover.
