Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali scored in Italy’s dramatic win against Israel on Monday night and received a message from Martin Dubravka soon after.

Many of Eddie Howe’s players are away on international duty, but are due back on Tyneside later this week ahead of a must-win Premier League game against Wolves on Saturday.

Anthony Elanga and Emil Krafth suffered embarrassment against Kosovo on Monday night, while former Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak played his first game since moving to Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Bruno Guimaraes will be in action for Brazil on Tuesday night when they take on Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier.

While Newcastle’s Swedish players struggled, it was a completely different case for Sandro Tonali and Italy, who had a wild night with his national team.

Dubravka started in Slovakia’s shock win against Germany last week, a side that featured Newcastle’s new record signing Nick Woltemade.

The 36-year-old then played the full 90 minutes against Luxembourg on Monday evening. While there were many international games last night, the dramatic clash between Israel and Italy attracted the attention of the most viewers.

Tonali scored an added-time goal from distance to give Italy a 5-4 lead and secure a vital three points in their World Cup qualifying group.

Post-match, Tonali shared an image on Instagram, which received a comment from Dubravka, which simply read: “maestro”.

Even though he is now at Burnley, Dubravka still recognises how good Tonali is, and will surely be looking forward to when he gets the chance to play against him.

Which Newcastle United international stars are in action on Tuesday?

The likes of Elanga, Krafth, Tonali, Woltemade and William Osula will now return to Newcastle to take up training with Howe before the Premier League returns this weekend.

However, there are still several players who could be in action for their countries on Tuesday.

England play Serbia in Belgrade on Tuesday evening, and three Newcastle players could be involved. Anthony Gordon, Dan Burn and Tino Livramento all have a chance of starting or featuring in some way for Thomas Tuchel’s England side.

Elsewhere, Guimaraes could start for Brazil against Bolivia late in the night.

Additionally, Yoane Wissa is in contention for a start when DR Congo take on Senegal on home turf. Wissa scored and bagged an assist in a 4-1 win against South Sudan last week.
