Carlo Ancelotti has made some brilliant new comments about Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, which will surely have the Brazilian playing out of his shoes.

The 27-year-old is currently away on international duty with the Canarinho, and could be in action on Tuesday night when they take on Bolivia.

Bruno Guimaraes has enjoyed a positive start to the 2025/26 campaign, scoring in Newcastle United’s defeat to Liverpool and looking bright in other Premier League games.

His good form followed him into international duty as well. Guimaraes scored for Brazil against Chile last week, helping them secure a 3-0 win.

With the Newcastle midfielder enjoying his new season, Carlo Ancelotti has shared brilliant new praise for Guimaraes.

Carlo Ancelotti says Bruno Guimaraes is ‘very important’ for Brazil

Guimaraes’ Newcastle captaincy duties continued while he was away. He shared an Instagram comment to Sandro Tonali after the Italian’s success with his country.

The Brazilian will be hoping he can hit the ground running and continue his brilliant form against Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers. While Brazil have already secured their place at next year’s World Cup, Guimaraes will still want to give it everything to ensure he is on the plane with Ancelotti.

In his latest press conference, Ancelotti shared his admiration for the midfielder and hinted at his role in Brazil’s squad going forward.

“Bruno is very important to the team, well-rounded and can play in different positions on the pitch,” he said.

“I really like him because he works hard, he’s a very complete player. I wouldn’t say he’s an undisputed starter but he’s very important to the national team.”

Joelinton must take inspiration from Bruno Guimaraes

Joelinton was named alongside Guimaraes in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad a couple of weeks ago. However, the 29-year-old suffered a groin injury during the defeat to Liverpool and was forced to withdraw from the squad.

After getting his first call-up in 2023, Joelinton has been capped seven times by Brazil, but had to endure a spell out of the squad before returning earlier this year.

In the meantime, Guimaraes was always being selected, and has now earned the trust of Ancelotti, and is almost guaranteed a place in the starting XI, or at least the squad.

Joelinton is good enough to play regularly under Ancelotti in Brazil, and fans would love to see him as part of the squad on the plane to North America for the World Cup next year.

If he stays injury-free and goes on a good run of form, Joelinton can surely establish himself as one of the country’s best midfielders alongside Guimaraes.
