Newcastle United look likely to miss out on Matheus Cunha to Manchester United.

Cunha is a target for Newcastle United, as he gets set to leave Wolves this summer.

But while Toon officials would love to bring him to Tyneside, Cunha wants to join Manchester United. That is his preference – with or without Champions League football.

While a deal has not been completed, Man United are firmly in the driving seat to snap up the Brazilian attacker.

Eddie Howe’s side may need to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, with Antoine Semenyo on Newcastle’s radar.

Newcastle United target Antoine Semenyo impresses

However, Semenyo is another player who Manchester United should be targeting.

That is the view of Troy Deeney, who has included the Bournemouth winger in his Premier League team of the week for BBC Sport.

On Semenyo, Deeney said: “I’m so impressed every time I watch him. I played against him at Bristol City and didn’t think he would be able to go on and do what he’s doing in the Premier League, but he is going from strength to strength. Manchester United need to be looking at him – he is powerful and drives, that’s what they need.”

How much Antoine Semenyo will cost this summer

The 25-year-old’s inclusion in Deeney’s team comes on the back of him scoring in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Semenyo got his ninth Premier League goal of the campaign. In all competitions, he has got 11 goals and six assists.

He has been exceptional for the Cherries this season, which is why various clubs are queuing up to take him away from the Vitality Stadium.

Deeney believes that Man United should be one of those clubs, while it is Newcastle United who are desperately in need of a winger.

In Semenyo, the Magpies would be getting a player who can operate on both flanks. However, they would also be getting a player who will cost a huge amount of money.

It has been reported that Bournemouth want £70million for Semenyo. That would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, eclipsing the £63million arrival of Alexander Isak.

Newcastle are also interested in signing Semenyo’s teammate Dean Huijsen. However, Geordie Boot Boys understand that Liverpool are favourites to sign Huijsen at the moment, with Chelsea also keen.
