Manchester United are going to try and get Newcastle man even though he doesn’t want to leave

Newcastle United have quickly overtaken Manchester United on and off the pitch.

The Magpies have won their last three games against Man United, with the Red Devils failing to score in any of them. Eddie Howe’s most recent victory over them was one of dominance, and it led to yet another Man United meltdown from the media.

If it wasn’t for Newcastle’s injury crisis, the Magpies would be above them in the Premier League. Instead, Erik ten Hag’s side are surprisingly one point and one place above Newcastle in the table.

Off the pitch, it is chaos behind the scenes at Old Trafford. From the outside looking in, it appears to be an absolute nightmare.

That is a stark contrast to Newcastle United, who have become a well-oiled machine under the guidance of Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.

He is calling the shots behind the scenes at St James’ Park, much to the envy of Man United.

It has recently been claimed that Man United want to whisk Ashworth away from Newcastle, and get him to lead a potential resurgence at Old Trafford once Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes his partial takeover of the club.

Ratcliffe’s right-hand man Sir Dave Brailsford is close with Ashworth, which could give them an edge, but it has been claimed that both Newcastle and Ashworth want to continue working together.

However, that seemingly is not going to stop Man United making a move.

Man United still plan to make move for Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth

According to iNews, Brailsford still intends to try and tempt Ashworth to Man United, despite Newcastle having absolutely no interest in letting him leave the club.

They add that Ashworth himself wants to stay at St James’ Park, yet Brailsford still going to do what we can to try and convince the former FA chief to switch clubs.

This new regime isn’t even in power yet, and they still seem to be making the same old mistakes. Man United need to think outside of the box, rather than just steal someone from their rivals.

But if they want to waste their time trying to get Ashworth, good luck to them. While Brailsford might be friends with Ashworth, that does not necessarily mean that a move will happen.

All signs point towards Ashworth remaining at Newcastle, where he is building something special. He is only just getting started too, as we reach the halfway stage of his second year on Tyneside.

Man United being keen is a testament to his ability, but he is staying put.
