Lewis Hall was enjoying a breakout season for Newcastle United before injury derailed his plans.
At just 21 years old, Lewis Hall has the potential to become a special player in the future. He is already showing signs of the player Newcastle United fans want him to be after a slow start to life on Tyneside.
Hall has already played for England alongside Newcastle teammates Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento, a testament to the hard work he has put in behind the scenes as well as Eddie Howe‘s continuous efforts to develop young players.
The defender was a big part of the Magpies’ success this season, playing in almost every game in all competitions and looking better in each of them. However, Hall is out for the rest of the season, having picked up an ankle injury at the end of February.
His injury meant he was not able to play in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley, but Newcastle players facetimed Hall inside the dressing room to share the special moment with him.
Hall grew up a Newcastle fan, so the move to Tyneside has been a dream for him. He grew up watching some of the club’s finest-ever players wear the black and white stripes. Now, Hall has revealed which player he would have loved to have played with at Newcastle, fans will absolutely love the answer.

Lewis Hall’s dream Newcastle United teammate
He may not realise it now, but Hall is currently part of a dream team. Newcastle fans will never forget the 2024/25 squad thanks to the Carabao Cup win, no matter what happens at the end of the Premier League season.
Even if he wasn’t there for the game at Wembley, Hall can proudly say he did his bit to get Newcastle to that final.
In a recent interview on the Premier League’s ‘Uncut’ series, where players must choose which of their teammates have special statistics on EA FC 25, he was asked which Newcastle player from the past he would love to have as part of the current team.
Fans will be delighted to hear that Hall chose Newcastle cult hero Hatem Ben Arfa as his dream teammate; the reason why is brilliant.
“I’d love to put Ben Arfa in there somewhere. I feel like he’s very skilful, and I feel like he was a different sort of player to what football is now.
“I feel like he would entertain the crowd and do so many things that would make you think ‘oh wow, what a player’.”
Hatem Ben Arfa had a strange career after leaving Newcastle United
Ben Arfa was one of the most entertaining yet frustrating players in Newcastle’s history. The attacker had no interest in tracking back and, at times, would barely bother trying. However, there were games where he was simply electric and looked as if he was one of the best footballers in the world.
Alan Pardew said Ben Arfa was horrible to Newcastle staff while he was at the club before being released in 2015. The Frenchman is said to have frequently ‘antagonised’ club staff, admitting he was a ‘very difficult’ player to manage.
Ben Arfa joined Newcastle for £5m in 2011 after an initial loan spell, where he had his leg broken by former Manchester City player Nigel de Jong.
After leaving Newcastle, Ben Arfa played for the likes of Nice, PSG and Rennes before retiring from football.

The former Newcastle man is now a professional padel player; the bizarre career change looks to have been a good one. As of November 2023, Ben Arfa was in the top 2000 padel players in France.
Although his time on Tyneside was marred with inconsistency, fans still loved Ben Arfa and wished they could have seen much more of him in the black and white stripes.
