Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will not be able to pick Lewis Hall for the next few months.
The 20-year-old has been enjoying the best season of his young career, but it has been brought to a premature end. Newcastle United have confirmed that Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury he suffered against Liverpool.
It is a devastating blow for the Magpies, and for Hall. It means that the left-back will miss the upcoming Carabao Cup final – a game that he almost certainly would have started.
Following the news, Bruno Guimaraes sent a message of support to Hall. He is eager for the youngster to return as soon as possible, which is a sentiment that everyone associated with Newcastle United will share.

Eddie Howe reflects on ‘sad moment’ for Lewis Hall
Now Eddie Howe has spoken to Sky Sports News about the injury, admitting that the news has been hard for Hall to take given the timing.
However, the Newcastle United manager insists that Hall has the right mentality to come back stronger.
“Really sad moment for Lewis,” he said.
“He’s been excellent for us this season. I know he has been particularly hit by the news. The timing of it is particularly tough for him, with the cup final just around the corner and England on the horizon as well.
“But he’s a really strong character. He’ll come back from it.
“It’s a nasty injury so we need to make sure he gets treated right and hopefully he’ll be back to full strength for next season.”
Lewis Hall’s honest verdict on Newcastle United injury
The road to recovery starts now for Hall, as he begins to look forward to next season.
Given how well he has played and what is still at stake, it truly is devastating for the £28million man.
However, ending his season early is the right thing to do. While the club could have taken steps to allow Hall to play through the pain, that could have caused more issues down the line.
That is why Hall has told Newcastle’s official website that he knows the correct decision has been made.
“I would want to continue playing but we had to look at my career and agree on what was best,” he said.
“If I was to play through the pain, things could have got worse which would have a negative impact on my career long-term.
“Honestly, I would play through anything if I could. Obviously the cup final is a massive game; I’d played in all the games leading up to it and I’d like to think I’ve played a big part in us getting to this stage.”
In his absence, Tino Livramento is likely to play at left-back. That will see him move from right to left, allowing Kieran Trippier to play in his preferred position of right-back.
Trippier is back in Newcastle training after picking up a back issue in the FA Cup defeat to Brighton, and will likely start against West Ham on Monday night and in the Carabao Cup final versus Liverpool.
