If Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid, it could have a knock on effect on Newcastle United.

For major clubs, it’s been a crazy transfer window. And it’s not over yet.

According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid have made an offer of £145.6million to sign Mbappe from PSG. They add that the Spanish giants are increasingly confident about completing a deal.

It would be one of the biggest transfers in history, and certainly the most expensive of the summer.

But how would one of the best players on the planet joining one of the biggest clubs on the planet impact little old Newcastle United?

Kylian Mbappe could cause transfer merry-go-round involving Newcastle

According to Sky Sports, PSG will move for Everton forward Richarlison if Mbappe leaves. This is where Newcastle could be involved.

The Mirror reported in July that Rafa Benitez would move for Allan Saint-Maximin if Richarlison left the club.

Back then he was being linked with Real Madrid, but now it’s Paris Saint-Germain.

This would be disastrous for Newcastle. Saint-Maximin is our talisman, and often our only beacon of hope.

At the start of the summer, losing Saint-Maximin would have been heart-breaking. Losing him this late in the window could be catastrophic.

We’re massively reliant on the Frenchman, and would barely have any time to find a suitable replacement. Without Saint-Maximin, most fans would resign themselves to relegation already.

Obviously a lot of things need to happen for this to become a reality, but Toon fans will always be worried about Saint-Maximin joining a bigger club.

He’s an incredibly gifted footballer who shouldn’t be spending his days battling to stay up.

In a summer that’s seen Jack Grealish move for £100million, Romelu Lukaku return to the Premier League and Lionel Messi move clubs, Kylian Mbappe could be the biggest deal of the lot.

And it’s a deal that might hurt Newcastle down the road…
