Allan Saint-Maximin leaving would make this dreadful summer even worse for Newcastle United fans.
As it stands, he’s still a Toon player.
But when you’ve got a player who’s as good as the Frenchman, there is always fear that he will leave for a bigger and better club.
Combine that with Newcastle’s lack of ambition under Mike Ashley, and you begin to wonder why Saint-Maximin is even still here.

Earlier in the year, the 24-year-old spoke to Sky Sports about the club needing to sign more top players like Joe Willock.
Less than three weeks away from the new Premier League season, and the Magpies haven’t signed any top players. They haven’t signed any player, period.
Newcastle were in pre-season action on Tuesday night, drawing 1-1 with Rotherham thanks to a late Jeff Hendrick header. Interestingly, Hendrick ended the game playing up front.
Steve Bruce’s forward options were limited, with only Callum Wilson and Dwight Gayle involved.
Joelinton missed the game due to injury, while Saint-Maximin wasn’t involved because of ‘illness’.
Sadly, some fans aren’t buying this ‘illness’. Some supporters fear he’s on the way out of St James’ Park.

Despite a worried Toon Army, there are no reports to back up these fears.
Saint-Maximin is reportedly a wanted man, however, with claims he could be a target for Everton.
The Mirror stated earlier this month that Rafa Benitez could make a move for the £60million-rated ASM if Richarlison leaves Goodison Park.
However, Richarlison hasn’t gone anywhere yet. And Saint-Maximin remains at Newcastle.
Claims of an ‘illness’ might be true, but with the sad state of affairs at Newcastle right now, some supporters are understandably worried.
