Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Kyle Bartley during this summer’s transfer window, but West Brom reportedly want to keep him.

That’s according to the Birmingham Mail, who claim the Baggies are ‘intent’ on the defender remaining at the Hawthorns.

West Brom suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, meaning they are once again a Championship club.

However, two top flight clubs are reportedly interested in Bartley.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle and Crystal Palace could give him a route back to the Premier League.

Steve Bruce wants to sign a new centre-back this summer, but West Brom will be hoping it isn’t Bartley.

Some Newcastle fans don’t want to sign Kyle Bartley this transfer window

Newcastle have been linked with a plethora of defenders so far, but are yet to bring anyone in.

While names such as Kristoffer Ajer and William Saliba brought some excitement, fans are less enthusiastic about the prospect of Bartley arriving at the club.

Would he be an improvement on what we already have? Probably not.

That’s why so many fans are against a possible move for the 30-year-old. While he would be a bargain at £3million, he’s not the kind of player we need.

We have some talented centre-backs at the club, and shouldn’t just sign one for the sake of it.

West Brom want to keep Bartley for their Championship campaign, and Newcastle should let them.
