Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is excited to welcome Bruno Guimaraes back to the club this summer.

The Magpies are currently in Germany for a training camp, but Eddie Howe does not have all of his players with him.

Some of his top stars are absent, as they are given extended breaks after competing at Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

That includes Bruno Guimaraes, who started every game for Brazil as they were knocked out in the quarter finals of the Copa America. It was a disappointing end to a gruelling season for the 26-year-old, who is now resting ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

But he will be back with his Newcastle United teammates soon, and his fellow Brazilian Joelinton has provided an update on when he will report for pre-season duties.

Joelinton says Bruno Guimaraes will be on Newcastle’s trip to Japan

Joelinton is back training with Newcastle, and is part of the group that is working at Adidas HQ.

The 27-year-old has also been on media duty, and spoke to NUFC TV about when Bruno will be back from his extended break.

“He can’t wait to come back,” he said.

“I’ve been talking to him. He will be back to go to Japan with us.

“It’s going to be great to have him back, as well as the other international players who are not back yet.”

Bruno could be joined by new teammates when Newcastle head to Japan

Joelinton says Bruno will be part of the Newcastle United squad that heads to Japan, with the Magpies set to play two friendlies in the Far East.

Howe’s players will take part in their first friendly of the summer next weekend, as they face Championship side Hull City on July 27th. They will arrive in Japan the following day, ahead of games against Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F Marinos.

While Joelinton did not provide the exact details, it feels likely that Bruno will not appear until the trip to Japan. That will probably be when all of Newcastle’s other international players return.

It will be great to get Bruno back, and he might be joined on the trip to Japan by some new teammates.

That is the hope, with Howe eager for Newcastle to make two new signings beforehand. Whether or not that is likely remains to be seen, as it is less than two weeks away. That does not give Paul Mitchell much time to provide Howe with the players he needs.

But while Howe might not have new signings, he will have Bruno when Newcastle United set off for Japan.
