Joelinton is under huge pressure to pass final Newcastle United test after furious altercation vs Man United

Joelinton had to be restrained in the final minutes of Newcastle United’s win over Manchester United.

The Brazilian midfielder had put in another commanding performance in a black and white shirt, helping Newcastle beat Man United 4-1.

Joelinton was excellent once again, with his physicality proving to be too much for Ruben Amorim’s players.

As Newcastle saw out their victory, Jason Tindall decided to substitute the 28-year-old. He came off alongside his fellow Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes, with Geordie duo Sean Longstaff and Lewis Miley replacing them.

However, getting Joelinton off the pitch was not easy. He had to be held back by his teammates, as Joelinton argued with Manuel Ugarte.

Fortunately for the Magpies, Bruno was able to drag his friend off the pitch before the referee could intervene and brandish a yellow card. If he had, Joelinton would have received a two-game ban.

Joelinton must avoid a yellow card against Crystal Palace

Thankfully, Joelinton is not banned. Instead, he is expected to start Newcastle’s game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

That is a particularly important game for Joelinton, who just needs to survive one more game without being booked.

He is currently on nine Premier League bookings, and a 10th will result in a two-match suspension. However, bookings will be wiped after Newcastle’s game against Crystal Palace.

If he is booked on Wednesday night, he will miss games against Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.

Hopefully the £40million man can get through one more game without picking up a yellow card, as it would be a real blow to be without him for two games at such an important stage of the season.

No other Newcastle United player is at risk of a suspension

Joelinton is the only Newcastle United player at risk of a two-match ban.

Dan Burn currently has eight yellow cards in the Premier League. He could get two yellows on Wednesday night, but that would result in a one-match ban for a sending off rather than a two-match ban for an accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

The next Newcastle United player with the most yellow cards is Fabian Schar with six, followed by Sandro Tonali with five. Neither player is at risk of receiving a two-match ban.
