Manchester United could do very little to stop Newcastle United’s onslaught at St James’ Park on Sunday.
The Magpies looked levels above their opponents at times, as a valiant second-half performance saw them put four past Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United side that have been poor all season.
Man United made several changes to their starting XI for the game, including dropping goalkeeper Andre Onana for Altay Bayindir, but the decision proved useless at full time.
Newcastle United moved up to fourth in the Premier League after the win, just one point off Nottingham Forest in third. Eddie Howe’s side can move above Forest if they win their game in hand against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Tino Livramento shocked Man United fans as to how good he was as a makeshift left-back. The 22-year-old has been playing out of position following Lewis Hall’s season-ending injury, but has been sensational in the circumstances.
Joelinton will claim the assist for Newcastle’s fourth goal when Bayindir’s long ball was intercepted by the Brazilian straight into the path of fellow countryman Bruno Guimaraes, but it was a moment during the second half that raised a few eyebrows.

Joelinton prepared to risk suspension during Newcastle’s win vs Man United
Joelinton is known to be a tough player to come up against. The 28-year-old is such a powerful presence which strikes fear in any opponent.
On Sunday, he battled with Man United player Manuel Ugarte, who signed from PSG for a fee up to £50.5m last summer.
It was an interesting duel that got incredibly heated towards full-time. Joelinton’s name was on the board to come off, but the Brazilian seemed to have his priorities elsewhere.
Cameras caught Joelinton exchanging words with Ugarte before coming off. Craig Hope pointed out that Joelinton was gesturing to Newcastle’s tunnel, effectively saying he will meet Ugarte there at full time to sort out their differences.
It was sure to be a heart-in-mouth moment for Newcastle staff and fans, as Joelinton is just one yellow card away from picking up a two-match ban.
The midfielder has one more game to go without a booking to ensure he does not have to serve any punishment.
Pat Nevin noticed something brilliant about Joelinton during win vs Man United
Newcastle made it five straight wins in all competitions on Sunday, giving them a massive boost in the race for Champions League qualification.
The Magpies will be playing Conference League football as a minimum next season, but the players and the fans are well aware that they can do much better than that.

During the win, BBC Sport commentator Pat Nevin could not help but laugh when he saw the Man United players failing in their duels against Joelinton.
“It is funny when you see Joelinton against most players and they try and muscle him off the ball. Why even bother?”
With seven games left in Newcastle’s Premier League season, Howe needs players like Joelinton to continue their rich vein of form to ensure a return to Europe’s top competition.
