‘Intelligent’ Newcastle player is now going to return against Fulham next weekend

Newcastle United have a massive game against Fulham in the FA Cup next weekend, and Eddie Howe will be able to welcome at least one player back into his squad for the trip to Craven Cottage.

The Magpies have struggled for options off the bench as of late, and that was massively evident during the defeat to Manchester City. While they were able to bring on Kevin De Bruyne, Newcastle’s only substitution was to put Lewis Hall on out of position.

Eddie Howe’s squad has been decimated by injuries, while it was also hit with illness last weekend.

The shock absentee against Manchester City was Tino Livramento. He was expected to be named on the bench, so it came as a surprise when the team was announced and he was nowhere to be seen.

It was then confirmed that the 21-year-old was missing due to illness, but it looks like he will have shaken it off in time for the FA Cup fourth round.

Newcastle will have Tino Livramento back against Fulham

According to the Times, Tino Livramento will be available against Fulham next weekend after missing the Man City game due to flu.

That will be a huge boost for Newcastle, as Livramento has been exceptional since his summer move from Southampton.

He has been involved in some huge victories for the Magpies, including Manchester City and two over Manchester United. He was particularly outstanding during the Premier League win over the Red Devils, with Ally McCoist describing him as a ‘really intelligent’ footballer.

With Livramento back fit, it will be interesting to see if he starts the cup tie against Fulham. Fans would love to see him back in the side, but it feels likely that Howe will stick with the likes of Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn at full-back.

If that is the case, Livramento will at least provide some quality from the bench – a bench that could soon become much stronger.

It is hoped that Callum Wilson will return before the end of the month, while Jacob Murphy is also not too far away from a return after his shoulder injury.
