Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has a fan, and it is someone who the Magpies are interested in signing.

Bruno Guimaraes has been idolised ever since he moved to Tyneside, with fans falling in love with the Brazilian midfielder.

He has been incredible in black and white, which is why rumours of him potentially leaving the club are so worrying. It has been suggested that he could seek a new challenge in the summer, with Newcastle being forced to cash in on arguably their most important player.

This comes at a time when Newcastle are actually looking for midfield reinforcements, rather than thinking about letting someone in that position go.

One target is Andrey Santos, who has returned to Chelsea after his loan spell at Nottingham Forest was cut short. It has been claimed that the 19-year-old’s representatives would be open to their client moving to the North East.

That would be a difficult deal to do, but it would give the teenager the chance to play alongside Bruno, who he has described as one of his idols.

What Andrey Santos has said about Bruno Guimaraes

Santos has been speaking to AS, and was asked to name his footballing idols – one of which is Bruno Guimaraes.

“My idol has always been Casemiro,” he said.

“Now I follow Rodrigo (Rodri) a lot because he is phenomenal. My idols are Rodri, Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes.

“I really like Bruno because of his personality, because of the way he plays. I admire him a lot.”

While Newcastle would no doubt love to sign Santos now and play him alongside Bruno, that is highly unlikely.

Firstly, it would be extremely challenging to bring the teenager to St James’ Park right now given Newcastle’s financial situation. And Chelsea would likely be unwilling to let him go permanently.

Secondly, there is a chance that Bruno’s time as a Newcastle United player could be coming to an end. There are a lot of rumours about him being sold this summer, with Chelsea previously interested in securing his signature.

Santos would surely love to play alongside Bruno, but Newcastle squandered the chances of that dream becoming a reality on Tyneside last year. They were heavily linked with signing the young Brazilian, but missed out to Chelsea, who bought him for £18million.
