A big change is on the horizon at St James’ Park, with Dan Ashworth seemingly set to say goodbye to Newcastle United.
The 52-year-old is being targeted by Manchester United, and looks set to become the Red Devils’ new sporting director in the near future.
Dan Ashworth is keen to make the move, and Newcastle will not stand in his way – providing Man United compensate them financially.
It will be a big blow to lose the former FA chief, as he was viewed as a monumental hire when he arrived at the club two years ago. Ashworth was tasked with guiding the Toon project, and stated that it would take three summer transfer windows to remodel the Newcastle United squad under his guidance.
That third transfer window is on the horizon, but it does not look like Ashworth will be here to see it. However, the club are not concerned about their summer transfer plans despite this looming change.
Newcastle not worried about summer transfer window without Dan Ashworth
According to the Northern Echo, people within Newcastle United do not believe that Ashworth leaving for Manchester United will have a negative impact on the Magpies’ summer transfer plans.
The report states that plans are already in place, with more scouting meetings scheduled for next week.
For Newcastle, the show must go on. The club will not stop just because Ashworth is seemingly leaving.
Business will continue, and Newcastle will put their summer plans into motion with or without the former Brighton man.
It has already been reported that the Magpies will look to sign a forward. That is no surprise given the recent injury woes of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
A centre-back could also be on Newcastle’s agenda, while they will also have to look towards their midfield if Joelinton is sold. That is a possibility, as the 27-year-old is yet to sign a new contract. His current deal expires in 2025, and Newcastle might be forced to cash in this summer.
But Newcastle already have a vision for their summer transfer window of 2024, and it will not change once Ashworth heads to Old Trafford.
