Manchester United will have to dig deep into their pockets if they are serious about poaching Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United.
There have been a lot of fears about Dan Ashworth taking his talents to Old Trafford in recent months, and now it is looking incredibly likely.
Newcastle United are preparing themselves for his departure, while there is apparently growing confidence in Manchester that the 52-year-old is going to leave his role at St James’ Park.
While it looks like a move is on the cards, it certainly will not be cheap. It was previously claimed that Man United would have to pay a sizeable compensation package to land Ashworth, and now a new report has shared details on how much it could cost the Red Devils.

According to iNews, Manchester United will have to pay more than £6million in compensation to get Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United.
The report states that he would also have to undergo a lengthy period of gardening leave, suggesting that it could be for as long as 12 months.
That is something Newcastle experienced when hiring Ashworth themselves, as he was not able to actually start his job on Tyneside for four months after stepping down from his role at Brighton And Hove Albion.
While it will be a huge blow if Ashworth does leave the club, at least we will receive a sizeable fee. In that respect, it is a shame this deal did not happen in January – at least that way we might have been able to get around the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules!
But in all seriousness, it will be a real testament to Ashworth’s ability if Man United agree to pay the compensation package of more than £6million. That is a lot of money for someone operating behind the scenes, but it will sum up just how good Ashworth is and how desperate Man United are for someone like him.
