Jamie Miley has made a brilliant first impression at Hartlepool United following his permanent move.
Newcastle United’s focus in the January transfer window was offloading players and raising cash.
Just days after Miguel Almiron’s move to MLS, Newcastle announced that midfielder Jamie Miley joined Hartlepool United on a permanent basis.
Newcastle considered loaning Miley out this month, but club chiefs opted to sell him permanently with the 21-year-old struggling to make his way into Eddie Howe’s plans.
During the first half of the season, Miley struggled on loan at Newport County. His six-month spell was plagued by injuries, meaning he only made eight appearances for the League Two side before returning to Tyneside.
His reunion with his brother Lewis Miley in training this month was short-lived, but Jamie will be delighted with how life at Hartlepool has started.

Jamie Miley scores on Hartlepool United debut
Just three days after his move to Hartlepool was made official, the National League side named Miley on the bench for their clash against Braintree Town.
Hartlepool, who are without a win in their last four games, brought Miley on as a substitute in the 68th minute as they were trailing 1-0.
Remarkably, Miley rescued a point for his new side by scoring a dramatic equaliser in the 97th minute.
The former Newcastle academy star fired the ball in from close distance following a Hartlepool corner.
What Jamie Miley said after scoring on Hartlepool debut
Miley made an instant impact at his new club, scoring in injury time to salvage a point and keep Hartlepool 12th in the National League table.
Following the full-time whistle, Miley gave his thoughts on the goal and how it felt to make his debut.
Speaking on Hartlepool’s YouTube channel, Miley said: “Yeah obviously it’s nice to make my debut and to get the goal at the end, it’s always extra special for us on my debut.
“So good on a personal note but I think we should have won the game comfortably at the end.

“The amount of chances we had, the game should have been finished before the goal at the end. On another day, it could have been three or four.
“Yeah it was brilliant [the goal], obviously I had all the emotions going through me. I couldn’t believe the first one when it dropped to my feet and it hit the bar, then for it to drop to my feet again and into the back of the net. It was brilliant for us.”
