There looks set to be at least one more loan exit at Newcastle United during the January transfer window.

There has been a real focus on outgoing loans at Newcastle United as of late, as the club aims to enhance its youth talent.

Charlie McArthur has gone to Carlisle United where he is playing alongside Paul Dummett. Elsewhere, Travis Hernes has joined Aalborg in Denmark.

Newcastle have sent Alex Murphy to Bolton, with the Irish defender the latest Toon player to depart on a temporary basis.

However, he will not be the last this month.

That is according to the Shields Gazette, who report that Newcastle United are arranging a second loan move of the season for Jamie Miley.

The midfielder had joined Newport County over the summer, but was recalled to Tyneside after making just eight appearances. Injuries limited Miley’s minutes, with the 21-year-old undergoing hernia surgery.

His next loan move could be closer to home, with the Shields Gazette adding that Hartlepool United are interested in signing Miley on loan.

Which former Newcastle players Jamie Miley could play alongside

It would be a step down for Miley, with Hartlepool United currently 13th in the National League. In contrast, Miley had been playing in League Two when he was with Newport County.

But that is not a major concern. The main thing for Miley is playing regular senior football, which is not something that has ever happened in his young career.

A move to Hartlepool would see Miley play alongside some familiar faces for Newcastle United fans. There are four former Toon players at Hartlepool currently: Adam Campbell, Kazenga LuaLua, Matthew Bondswell and Luke Charman.

Hopefully an agreement can be found and Miley can enjoy a proper run of games. That was the hope at Newport, but injuries ensured that did not happen.

Loan concern for Alex Murphy

While Miley awaits his next move, there has already been developments at Bolton following Murphy’s arrival.

After welcoming Murphy to the club, the League One side have announced that they are changing manager. Ian Evatt has left Bolton by mutual consent, on the back of their 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

Murphy was an unused substitute for that game, and hopefully he features in the new manager’s plans. If not, this loan move could prove to be a disaster.
