‘Hopefully’: Sean Longstaff thinks £25m player will make Newcastle even better

Newcastle United are playing brilliantly right now, but Sean Longstaff thinks they can be even better once one player returns from injury.

The Magpies are on a sensational run right now, after enduring a difficult start to the season. Eddie Howe‘s side are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions, including matches against Manchester City, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle are putting on a show too, boasting more goals in the Premier League than any other side so far. They scored another four on Saturday, putting Crystal Palace to the sword to move up to sixth in the table.

Longstaff is one of Newcastle’s most in-form players right now, and the Magpies’ recent surge has coincided with him returning to the starting lineup.

The 25-year-old is proving to be a key player for Eddie Howe once again, but he actually thinks that Newcastle can get even better once one of his midfield teammates is back fit.

Sean Longstaff excited to have Joe Willock back from injury

Following Newcastle’s 4-0 win against Crystal Palace, Longstaff spoke to the Chronicle. He was asked if the Magpies are playing at their absolute best right now, but he was quick to point out that a couple of players can make them even better.

“Definitely not,” he said.

“We still have Joe Willock to come back and Sven Botman and others aren’t far away. We just need to get back to full strength and then when happens you will hopefully see the best of us.”

Even more to come from Newcastle with Willock due to return

Newcastle have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, and they have done it without Joe Willock playing a single minute.

The £25million man has been out of action due to injury, having suffered an Achilles problem as he neared a return from the hamstring issue he picked up late last season.

Eddie Howe has spoke about how close Willock is to a comeback, admitting ahead of the game against Crystal Palace that the midfielder had finally returned to training.

That is very exciting, as Willock is certainly someone who can make this Newcastle team even better, as Longstaff says.

He was outstanding last season, and will have been devastated to miss so much football due to injury. But it looks like his ailments are behind him and he will be back playing very soon, which Longstaff believes should be a major concern for the rest of the Premier League.
