England captain Harry Kane has sent a message of congratulations to Lewis Hall after the Newcastle United defender made his Three Lions debut on Thursday night.
The 20-year-old came on at half time during England’s Nations League clash with Greece, with Lewis Hall joining Newcastle United teammate Anthony Gordon down the left.
It was a very comfortable 45 minutes for Hall, who even played a part in England’s second goal in the 3-0 win. His forward pass allowed Morgan Rogers to pick out Jude Bellingham, whose eventual shot resulted in an own goal by Toon stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Interim manager Lee Carsley was impressed with Hall’s performance, and the £28million man will now be eager to win his second England cap on Sunday against Republic of Ireland at Wembley.

Harry Kane congratulates Lewis Hall after England debut
Newcastle fans were delighted to see Hall play for England. He deserved the opportunity for all the hard work he has put in, and he certainly looked at home on the international stage.
The youngster shared the pitch with some top level players, and did not look out of place at all.
One of those players was England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who sent a message on Instagram to Hall, Curtis Jones and Morgan Rogers after they made their Three Lions debuts.
Kane wrote: “What a shift from all the boys! Massive win to have the group in our hands. Congrats @lewishall_10, @morgzzz11 and @curtisjr on your debuts.”
Hopefully Thomas Tuchel took note of Hall’s performance
Given how much of a problem position that left-back has been for England, it was refreshing to see Hall play and put in an accomplished display.
It was only a few months ago that Gareth Southgate was forcing Kieran Trippier to play out there, yet now England appear to have found the solution to their left-back conundrum.
Compared to England’s other two debutants, Hall probably stood out the least. However, that is not a concern. Hall used the ball well when he got on it, and did not appear to be overawed by the stage he found himself on.
As has been the case in a Newcastle shirt, Hall will only grow in confidence with more opportunities. And hopefully they are opportunities that Thomas Tuchel affords him, with the 51-year-old set to start work as England’s new manager on January 1st.
Tuchel actually gave Hall his professional debut when he was at Chelsea, and he will hopefully have been impressed by the left-back’s first international appearance.
The second half was a glimpse into England’s future, with Hall hinting that he can be the man to make that position his own.
