Elliot Anderson may play for a Premier League rival, but the former Newcastle United star was never going to miss the Carabao Cup final.

Nicknamed the ‘Geordie Maradona’, Elliot Anderson was adored by Newcastle United fans before his move to Nottingham Forest.

Eddie Howe said Newcastle were forced to sell Anderson due to the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Newcastle were just days away from breaching the rules but Anderson’s £35m move to Forest balanced the club accounts.

Newcastle fans chanted for Anderson when Forest visited St James’ Park last month and the 22-year-old decided to join Toon fans in the stands at Wembley for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

Via Instagram, Anderson shared photos from his trip to Wembley, revealing that he was sat among the Newcastle fans.
