Eddie Howe has called upon a number of young players during his time at Newcastle United, and it looks as if that trend is set to continue.
Newcastle United have some thinking to do as we approach the Leicester City game, as immediate improvements are required on Tyneside.
The defeat to Brentford highlighted the need for improvements defensively, and matters have been made worse with Nick Pope’s injury.
This leaves the likes of Martin Dubravka and Odysseas Vlachodimos to battle it out for a chance to be Newcastle’s number one moving forward.
That’s not the only thing going on at Newcastle right now, as Eddie Howe has also made a decision on one of the younger players at the club.

Eddie Howe decides he wants to keep Lewis Miley at Newcastle
Lewis Miley missed the end of last season with a back problem and then picked up a foot injury earlier on this season, which has really stumped his progress.
But, with Sean Longstaff heading for the exits, perhaps there’s a chance for him to re-establish himself.

According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Miley is unlikely to leave in January.
It’s stated that Miley is likely to find his first-team minutes increase in the New Year, as he builds fitness and endurance after a long time out.
He has plenty of loan suitors but Eddie Howe wants to keep him around the first team.

How many games has Lewis Miley played this season?
Miley has played just one minute all season for the Magpies, which came in the Carabao Cup.
The likes of Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff, Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock are all ahead of him in the pecking order, so it won’t be easy to pick up minutes.
However, with Callum Wilson suffering an injury and Nick Pope the latest on the casualty list, it’s important to have enough resources available.
It’s safe to say the youngster did show plenty of promise last season, but he’s not really required at the moment and doesn’t offer anything the current batch don’t.
