Eddie Howe is very excited about what the future holds for Newcastle United’s Vakhtang Salia.

Newcastle United will officially sign Vakhtang Salia in August when he turns 18-years-old, with the teenager recently visiting Tyneside.

The young forward spoke to the club’s media about his upcoming transfer, with Salia insisting that he is a versatile player.

Salia is keen to show the Newcastle United fans what he is capable of, as he prepares to leave Dinamo Tbilisi later this year.

He will hopefully prove to be a wonderful signing. Newcastle staff are excited about Salia, and now Eddie Howe has revealed his thoughts on the Georgian attacker after meeting him.

Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Wolves, Howe was asked about meeting Salia during his pre-match press conference.

“I managed to have a good conversation with him, his family and his representatives,” he said.

“Seemed like a really good lad. Great attitude. Hungry to learn.

“His next step is slightly unclear but certainly a talented young player.”

What could happen next for Vakhtang Salia after Newcastle United transfer

Salia is set to arrive at Newcastle United in August. After that, Eddie Howe is unsure what is next for the attacker.

It has been reported that Newcastle will loan Salia out, as they aim to fast track his development like they did with Yankuba Minteh. He was immediately loaned out to Feyenoord, where he excelled.

It was a good job he did too, as Minteh’s performances at Feyenoord helped inspire Brighton to pay £33million for him. That deal helped Newcastle United comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

When it comes to Salia, Newcastle will hope he develops to the point that he can be a first-team star at St James’ Park – or be sold for a big profit. Regardless, no decision will be enforced, as was the case with Minteh.

If Newcastle do decide to loan Salia out, they will need to ensure they find the right club for him. They did that with Minteh, but it has been a different story with Garang Kuol. Neither of his loan moves have gone to plan, and the young Aussie is still nowhere near good enough to play for the Newcastle United first-team.

Paul Mitchell will be keen to make the right call when it comes to Salia’s next move, as his new transfer policy could hinge on the success of deals like this one.
