Eddie Howe relies on Bruno Guimaraes a lot, which is why he is Newcastle United’s talisman.
He was the hero against Nottingham Forest with a breathtaking display, while he played a big role in Matt Ritchie’s equaliser on Saturday versus Bournemouth.
Bruno Guimaraes is an inspiration on the pitch for Newcastle United, and now Eddie Howe is reportedly hoping that the 26-year-old can have an impact off it too.
That is because his Brazilian pal Joelinton is yet to sign a new contract at St James’ Park, and could be sold this summer if he does not agree a new deal. His current contract expires in 2025.
The situation surrounding the 27-year-old is worrying, but it sounds like fresh talks are on the horizon.
Howe hopes Bruno can help convince Joelinton to sign new contract
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle hope to reopen contract negotiations with Joelinton’s representatives in the next few weeks. He is back on Tyneside now after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury.
The Chronicle add that Newcastle are wanting to recommence talks with the midfielder very soon, with Howe hoping that the fact Bruno has signed a new contract will help convince Joelinton to stay as well.

That could work both ways for Newcastle
On the one hand, Bruno signing a new deal could help convince Joelinton to do the same. They have struck up a brilliant friendship on Tyneside, and they clearly love playing together.
However, their relationship might come to an end this summer if Joelinton does not put pen to paper on a new deal – although there is the looming threat of Bruno being sold too given his release clause.
Alternatively, Bruno’s new contract may only strengthen Joelinton’s position. He wants to be one of the top earners at St James’ Park, with that current honour going to Bruno.
Recent form shows just how important Joelinton is to the team, as we are missing him massively right now. So his representatives will argue that he deserves a pay rise in line with the likes of Bruno and Newcastle’s other top earners.
It is a delicate situation, and one that will hopefully end with Joelinton remaining at Newcastle United.
