Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has delivered a warning to Newcastle United ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
He believes that Man United are very confident heading into the Carabao Cup final after beating Barcelona on Thursday night.
Erik ten Hag’s side beat Barca 2-1 at Old Trafford, with the returning Antony scoring the winner. The results puts Man United into the next round of the competition, and gives them a real boost of confidence going into Sunday’s game.
They are looking to win their first trophy since 2017, and their first under new manager Ten Hag. As for Newcastle, a win at Wembley would be a first trophy since 1969. It would be a first domestic trophy since 1955.
It is going to be a breathtaking game on Sunday, with both teams effectively looking to kickoff a new era by winning a trophy. Getting silverware so early into the new owners’ tenure would be incredible for Newcastle, while Man United feel like they are finally getting back to their best after years of disappointment.

Both teams head into the game with differing form. Newcastle have struggled as of late, winning just one of their previous seven Premier League games. It is fair to say that the cup final has been a distraction.
As for Man United, they will arrive at Wembley with a lot of confidence. They are firing on all cylinders, and are dragging themselves into a title race. They have also achieved a momentous win over Barcelona, and Dalot believes Thursday night can propel his side to glory.
Diogo Dalot believes Man United have ‘confidence’ going into Carabao Cup final
The right-back has spoke to Sky Sports News ahead of Sunday’s game at Wembley.
“There is no better way to go to a cup final after a result and performance like we did yesterday,” he said.
“I think the fans enjoyed. We enjoyed the atmosphere playing alongside them. We made a good combination between players and fans and the result gives us confidence and energy for the cup final.”
Momentum with Man United, but Newcastle have belief
Dalot’s message is a clear warning to Newcastle. His side are very confident after beating Barcelona, and actually feel energised despite playing more than the Magpies in the buildup to the game.
While there is an incredible buzz among Toon supporters, it feels like the momentum is with Man United on the pitch. They are playing very well and are winning big games.
In contrast, Newcastle have lost that winning habit as of late, while there has been the drama surrounding Nick Pope’s suspension.
But this Newcastle team are fighters. We do not get turned over, and we will go to Wembley with the belief that we can end this trophy drought.
Man United have confidence from Thursday’s win, while Newcastle will have confidence from a full week of training with Howe and his staff, who will have done everything they can to ensure the team is fully prepared for the biggest game in years.
