The Brazilian winger has trained ahead of the Carabao Cup final, with Antony now set to make his Manchester United comeback.
But before Erik ten Hag’s side take on Newcastle at Wembley, they have the small matter of a Europa League clash with Barcelona. The score is 2-2 after the first leg, meaning it is all to play for at Old Trafford.
Man United having such a high stakes game just days before the final could be a boost for Newcastle, but the Red Devils are receiving their own boost in terms of key players returning.
Antony could feature for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final
Ahead of the game against Barcelona, Ten Hag confirmed that both Antony and Harry Maguire are set to return to training.
They have since been pictured working alongside their teammates as they continue to prepare for the Barcelona game and the Carabao Cup final.
Having a player like Antony back is a huge boost for Man United. He will give them even more depth in attack.
The Brazilian has missed their previous four games with a leg injury, but is now back in first-team training and ready to make his return.
While there is no guarantee he will face Barcelona, he should be ready to take on Newcastle at Wembley. And that could be bad news for Dan Burn.
Antony was lively against Newcastle last time
Antony started on the right wing the last time Newcastle took on Manchester United. The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, which was a fair result.
However, Antony caused the Magpies plenty of problems down the right, and was a thorn in the side of Dan Burn. The Toon left-back struggled up against the 22-year-old, and was eventually replaced by Matt Targett.
With incredible speed, skill and dribbling ability, Antony is the type of player who can thrive up against Burn. Bukayo Saka had similar joy when we played against Arsenal until Joelinton was able to help out.
If Antony does feature at Wembley, Burn will need the same kind of cover from Joelinton, otherwise he could be in for an uncomfortable afternoon.
