Newcastle United striker Will Osula has enjoyed a perfect start to the European Under-21 Championship.

He inspired Denmark to victory on Thursday night, with the Newcastle United youngster coming off the bench to get an assist and then score the winner as they came from behind to beat Ukraine 3-2.

After his heroics, friend and Toon transfer target Anthony Elanga congratulated Osula on Instagram.

It was quite the night for Will Osula, who could not have asked for a better start to his summer. This tournament could be huge for the Danish attacker, as Osula aims to highlight his improvement since joining Newcastle United.

Will Osula explains his celebration after scoring Denmark winner

However, there was one thing missing from Osula’s cameo against Ukraine Under-21s.

When Osula netted his first Premier League goal back in April, he celebrated by dancing. However, his fancy footwork was nowhere to be seen after scoring Denmark Under-21s’ winner on Thursday night.

After the game, Danish outlet Bold asked Osula why he did not celebrate with a dance like he did for Newcastle United.

“Haha, no, maybe I will next time,” he said.

“I was just happy there were goals.

“The game wasn’t quite over, so I wanted to make sure we won it first.”

What Newcastle United fans sing about Will Osula

Osula really is a fan favourite at St James’ Park. While he has not played as much as he would have hoped, he is someone who the Toon Army are desperate to see succeed.

There was a huge roar when he scored his first Premier League goal, netting a header in Newcastle United’s 3-0 win over Ipswich Town. After finding the net, Osula ran to the corner flag and pulled out some dance moves, much to the delight of the supporters and his teammates.

The former Sheffield United forward even has his own chant, with Newcastle fans singing Osula’s name to the tune of Tequila by the Champs. That song came out in 1958, three years after the Magpies last won the FA Cup. Until Newcastle won the Carabao Cup back in March 2025, that FA Cup triumph had been their last domestic trophy.
