Newcastle United got back to winning ways on Saturday as they kept their hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
A week after Newcastle United lost 4-1 at Aston Villa, they simply could not to afford to drop further points, particularly at St James’ Park.
Thankfully, Newcastle beat Ipswich 3-0. While the scoreline did not exactly flatter Eddie Howe’s side, they were certainly made to work for it.
Newcastle were awarded a penalty in the first-half after Julio Enciso had fouled Jacob Murphy, but that came after a period in which the hosts were being frustrated.
After the break, however, Dan Burn and William Osula scored to ensure a routine three points for Newcastle, sending them back into third in the Premier League table.
After the game, Howe talked of his delight for Osula in particular.

Eddie Howe sends message after Will Osula statement
The Newcastle United manager revealed he hoped Osula’s brilliant header in the closing stages of the game could prove a “turning point” in his career on Tyneside.
It was a fine goal, proving a statement of intent from the 21-year-old. The former Sheffield United forward has hardly featured this season but proved a genuine option from the bench against the Tractor Boys.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Howe said: “Great to see Will come on the pitch and score with a header of the highest level. Hopefully that’s a turning point for him.”
Is William Osula leaving Newcastle United?
It will be fascinating to see what happens to the forward now.
Expecting him to start ahead of Isak for the run-in is of course rather ridiculous but perhaps his excellent headed goal will give Howe some food for thought.

With Callum Wilson failing to find the back of the net in most of his admittedly cameo appearances, the Denmark U21 international may have just moved ahead of him in the pecking order.
Osula could leave Newcastle on loan this summer but a strong end to the season would certainly help his case of staying in Howe’s first-team next season.
