William Osula is away on international duty with the Denmark U21s and it’s fair to say the Newcastle United forward has already had an impact, with transfer target Anthony Elanga impressed.
Osula has become something of a cult hero at Newcastle United.
The forward hasn’t been handed all too many starts since joining from Sheffield United but has delighted fans with his antics off the pitch and on social media, as well as during some of his brief cameos for Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle plan to reject offers for Osula, who is part of the Danish U21 squad playing in the European Championships for their age group.
The 21-year-old started on the bench for his side in their opening game against Ukraine but made a huge impact when he came on.
Indeed, Elanga was impressed.

Anthony Elanga’s message to Newcastle United star William Osula amid transfer links
Osula assisted the second goal for Denmark before securing the victory with a late strike at the Tatran Arena in Presov, Slovakia.
After the game, he took to social media to post a few images of himself celebrating.
In reply, Elanga wrote “W’s in the chat cuzooo”, which is a phrase Osula has been heard saying both in person and on social media.
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle have made a move to sign Elanga from Nottingham Forest, though it remains to be seen if that situation develops.
What William Osula has said about Denmark masterclass
It’s a brilliant start for Osula.
In 2023, Anthony Gordon really went up a gear while playing for England in this tournament and duly returned to Newcastle a much better player.
The hope will be that Osula can do something similar. Newcastle rate Osula highly behind the scenes, and a summer full of competitive football can hardly be a bad thing for his development.

Howe will need more from him next season when the Champions League places a greater strain on his squad. Alexander Isak cannot be expected to do it all.
Speaking to UEFA’s official website after the game, the striker said: “You always have to have belief. You have to play until the final whistle; the game is never done. We go to the end – even if we’re down, we’ve got to keep pushing to try and get the win.”
