Dan Burn has revealed what Lewis Miley is really like behind the scenes after the pair scored for Newcastle United in a 3-0 win over Fulham yesterday.

Few would have predicted the boyhood Newcastle fans to be on the scoresheet ahead of the game but thanks to some brilliant work from Bruno Guimaraes, they helped the Magpies to an important win on Saturday.

In an interview with NUFCTV after the game, Burn claimed that he was buzzing for the teenager to grab his goal because of how brilliant he’s been in the last few weeks and how nice he is off the pitch.

Burn says he was ‘buzzing’ for Miley after his goal

Miley has been playing exceptionally well considering how young he is, all he was missing from his performances was a goal to top it off.

After already becoming the youngest player to assist a Champions League goal for an English team on Wednesday, Miley became the youngest player to score for Newcastle in the Premier League.

Burn was very happy to see his young teammate succeed after putting in a lot of hard work to cover for some key injuries in the last few weeks.

After the game, Burn actually joked that he hated the young man because of how nice he is, but added that he’s very excited to see what Miley can do in the future.

In his interview, Burn said: “Absolutely buzzing for him, I think he deserves that. He’s been amazing in every game I’ve seen him play.

“Such a nice lad as well it actually makes me hate him how nice he is. But no, to score at the Gallowgate at 17-years-old is amazing and I’m sure there’s lots more to come.”

Miley can be a star man for the Magpies this season

There’s been a lot of talk about Newcastle needing to bring in a new midfielder in January to cope with the amount of injuries at the club and, while that may be true, it would be very harsh to now push Miley out of the team.

It’s understandable that Eddie Howe does not want to expose the 17-year-old to too much first-team football so early on in his development, but he’s arguably been one of Newcastle’s better players in the last few weeks.

Miley is very talented and, as Burn suggests, is clearly well-liked in the dressing room, so while reinforcements are needed in January, the teenager can still give a lot to this Newcastle team in big moments this season.
