Newcastle United ended what has been a difficult week in resounding fashion on Saturday.

Only days after their brutal exit from European football for the season, Newcastle turned on the style to beat Fulham at St James’ Park.

In the context of the last few results, it feels hugely important. Though more injury problems in the form of Fabian Schar and Joelinton emerged, getting back to winning ways ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final will no doubt raise morale.

It was also a special day for one Lewis Miley.

The teenager has proven something of a revelation this season after shining in the first-team and scored his first professional goal to set his team on their way.

As you might imagine, the praise has poured in.

Indeed, speaking after the game, Bruno Guimaraes was effusive in his praise of the teenager.

He said (via Andy Sixsmith): “Sometimes I can’t believe he’s 17. He’s unbelievable.

“For someone from the Academy to score at the Gallowgate End is so, so special and I’m so proud of him.”

Lewis Miley: How did Newcastle star play vs Fulham?

Brought off the bench following Joelinton’s injury, Miley certainly hit the ground running.

Not only did he score but the teenager (as per WhoScored) played two key passes, completed one dribble and found the mark with one of his two attempted crosses.

To do that after playing so often and coming into a game late speaks of a player at ease with himself on the very highest of levels.

Reportedly in line for a new contract after a meteoric rise at his young age, Miley continues to go from strength to strength in the Newcastle first-team.

What a player we have on our hands. The future is very bright indeed.
