Dan Burn has revealed he has suffered an injury after seeing a specialist on England duty, but it isn’t as bad as it’s feared.
Newcastle United stars Dan Burn and Anthony Gordon are away on England duty this week, and were both involved as Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions hammered Wales 3-0 on Thursday night.
Gordon played the full 90 minutes as he continues to be favoured by the new England boss, with goals in the opening 19 minutes from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka securing the friendly win.
Burn was an unused substitute at Wembley, but the big defender will be hoping to be involved when England travel to Latvia on Tuesday night, a game which could see them seal their place at the 2026 World Cup.
Burn will be available for selection despite suffering a broken hand in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest this past weekend.

Dan Burn reveals he has suffered a broken hand
Burn was spotted wearing strapping on his left hand while in England training at St. George’s Park earlier this week and has since revealed he suffered a broken bone in his last outing for the Magpies.
However, after seeing a specialist with England, the blow won’t be stopping him from playing for club or country.
“I actually broke my hand, I don’t even know how I did it, I think I went to grab someone and then I felt a crack,” Burn told Chronicle Live.
“It was early in the second half, so I went for the scan and I have seen a specialist.
“I’ve been told I can play with it. I am ready for Latvia, I am ready for Newcastle and I’d have been ready to play tonight.
“I will not be missing any time for a broken hand! This is nothing, I have had worse injuries than this. I am ready to go and ready to play.”
Injury problems are mounting for Newcastle United
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is no doubt keeping every digit crossed that none of his 10 international stars pick up an injury this week.
The treatment room is already filling up at Newcastle, even though the season is still in its early stages.
Yoane Wissa has yet to kick a ball since signing for the club, as he was injured during the September break, and fellow new signing Jacob Ramsey has played less than an hour.
Howe is particularly feeling the pinch at full-back, with first-choice duo Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall sidelined.
That has forced the manager to move Burn back out to left-back, so losing him would be a huge blow, which would likely bring Emil Krafth or youngster Alex Murphy into the XI, or a change in formation with Jacob Murphy at wing-back.
Thankfully, a measly broken hand won’t be keeping Burn out of action.
