Newcastle United have suffered yet another devastating injury blow ahead of their game against Bournemouth.
Callum Wilson has been a doubt for the game against his former club, having suffered a pectoral muscle injury during the win over Nottingham Forest.
There was some hope that he would be involved on Saturday against Bournemouth, but that no longer appears to be the case after the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope provided an update on the 31-year-old striker.
Callum Wilson set to undergo surgery
According to Craig Hope, Wilson is going to undergo surgery on his pectoral tendon. He adds that Newcastle’s number nine is going to be out of action for between nine and 12 weeks.
Hope wrote on X: “Callum Wilson will undergo surgery on his pectoral tendon & will be missing for 9-12 weeks.”
Another devastating injury blow for Newcastle this season
Wilson was not spotted in training this week, and now we know why.
Newcastle United’s luck with injuries this season is appalling. And it is yet another issue for Wilson, who has only just returned to fitness.
The England international has endured a frustrating season so far, having missed 13 games for Newcastle.
That number is only going to increase, and there is a chance that he might not play again during the current campaign.

If he is out for the full 12 weeks, that takes us into the middle of May. Newcastle’s final league game of the season is on May 19th, when they travel to West London to face Brentford.
This injury comes at a time when Wilson is being linked with a move away from Tyneside. He almost left the club in January, but a deal did not materialise.
Wilson’s latest injury means that Eddie Howe currently has no fit out-and-out strikers. Alexander Isak is also out of action with a groin problem, which means Anthony Gordon will play up front against Bournemouth on Saturday.
