Eddie Howe might be forced to make a change this weekend as Newcastle United prepare to face Bournemouth.

After an important win away to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle are back at St James’ Park on Saturday. They take on the Cherries, and will look to win their first home game since December 16th.

The Magpies have had some difficulties at St James’ Park as of late. The 4-4 draw with Luton Town was very worrying, with Harvey Barnes bailing Eddie Howe‘s side out on his return to action.

He will hope to start against Bournemouth this weekend, and he might get the chance to do just that.

No Callum Wilson in Newcastle training

That is because the club have released their official training photos from Wednesday’s session, and one of Newcastle United’s attacker is conspicuous by his absence.

There is no sign of Callum Wilson in any of the 25 photos that have been uploaded to the club’s official website.

This comes after reports stated that he is a doubt for the game against his former club Bournemouth on Saturday.

He suffered an arm injury in the latter stages of the win over Nottingham Forest, and there is a chance it could now rule him out of our next game.

That is massively frustrating, especially given how many games he has missed this season. The 31-year-old has been unavailable for 13 Newcastle fixtures during the current campaign, and that could soon increase to 14.

If it does, Howe will have to make a change to his starting XI. And with Alexander Isak also injured, it will likely mean that Anthony Gordon has to play as a striker. If that is the case then Harvey Barnes could potentially come in for his first start since September.

But all hope is not lost on Wilson just yet. As we saw with Gordon last weekend, Howe will leave it as late as possible to make a decision on his players, and there is still time for Wilson to prove his fitness.
