Chelsea could make a move for ‘unbelievable’ Newcastle United man

Newcastle United fans are sick to death of pundits debating Eddie Howe’s future, and now he is being linked with one of the Magpies’ Premier League rivals.

Throughout this season, there has been constant debate from pundits about how suitable Eddie Howe is for Newcastle United. There have been suggestions that he is not capable of taking the club as far as the owners want to go, despite guiding the Magpies into the Champions League in his first full season.

Some of the analysis from people like Richard Keys has been ridiculous, with the former Sky Sports presenter seemingly desperate to see Howe fail on Tyneside.

There were even reports in Germany last month that Newcastle were considering a move for Julian Nagelsmann, despite the British media stating that the Toon owners have complete faith in Howe as manager.

Those reports about Nagelsmann replacing Howe have been shut down already, but now another story about the Toon boss’ future at St James’ Park has emerged.

Chelsea could show interest in Eddie Howe

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea could look to appoint Eddie Howe if they decide to get rid of Mauricio Pochettino.

The journalist has told Give Me Sport that Howe, who has been called ‘unbelievable‘ by Kieran Trippier, could be an option for the Blues should they look to go in a different direction. He also states that Julen Lopetegui and Hansi Flick could be on Chelsea’s radar.

However, Jacobs’ suggestion about Chelsea’s interest in Howe appears to rest on Howe’s Newcastle future. The journalist states that they could look at the 46-year-old ‘should he leave Newcastle’.

Unless something drastic happens in the next few months, there is no way that Howe is going to depart St James’ Park. The club would be crazy to sack him, and it is hard to see any reason why he would walk away.

But if he was available, Chelsea would obviously be interested in taking a look at Howe. He is a fantastic manager, and has really enhanced his reputation since replacing Steve Bruce on Tyneside. He is well on his way to becoming a top class manager, as he helps guide Newcastle towards being a top class club. That is why the two are perfect for each other on this journey.

Given all of the turmoil at Chelsea, they probably wish they had someone like Howe calling the shots. But he belongs to Newcastle United, and that will hopefully be the case for a very long time.
