Newcastle United fans can now look forward to the return of the Premier League after escaping the international break unscathed.

There were 12 Newcastle United players called up for international duty in October and club captain Bruno Guimaraes was one of the last in action.

The 26-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute for Brazil vs Chile earlier this week but regained his starting spot for Wednesday morning’s clash against Peru.

Guimaraes endured a slow start to the season at Newcastle but has grown into the new campaign and enjoyed his best performances in recent weeks.

He continued to build up his match rhythm and fitness with Brazil this week and impressed against Peru.

Bruno Guimaraes stars for Brazil vs Peru

Brazil have suffered a rocky start to their World Cup qualifiers and only sit fourth in the CONMEBOL standings after 10 games played.

But Brazil raced to a 4-0 win over Peru on Wednesday morning and Guimaraes starred in midfield before being replaced late on by Andre.

Brazilian media have given their verdict on Guimaraes vs Peru, hailing his midfield performance as “important”.

A quick glance at Guimaraes’ numbers against Peru explains why his performance was raved about.

He ended the match with 78 touches, 56 completed passes (89 percent accuracy) and completed one key pass.

But the most impressive part of Guimaraes’ performance was defensively, where he was flawless.

Guimaraes was not dribbled past throughout the entire match and won 100 percent of his five ground duels.

Bruno Guimaraes quick turnaround for Newcastle fixture

Newcastle have managed to avoid any major injuries over the international break and many of the club’s international stars have impressed and built up confidence.

That includes Guimaraes, who has been impressive for Brazil. However, he now faces a frantic return to England in order to be available for Newcastle’s next match.

Eddie Howe‘s side return to action in the Premier League on Saturday, 19th October, when Newcastle face Brighton at St James’ Park.

After playing 80 minutes for Brazil in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Guimaraes has to jet back to England and will only have a short rest before returning to action.

The same can be said for Newcastle teammate Miguel Almiron, who starred for Paraguay against Venezuela on Wednesday morning.
