Bruno Guimaraes is experiencing something completely new at Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old joined the Magpies in January – a statement signing in an exciting month for Toon fans.
He was the most expensive arrival, with his move from Lyon potentially costing £42million. That’s more than Newcastle paid for Joelinton in 2019.
Bruno arrived for big money and with a big reputation. He looked like the kind of player who could transform the Magpies’ midfield.

That’s why Toon fans immediately warmed to him, screaming ‘Bruno, Bruno Bruno’ every time he emerged on the touchline to warm up in his opening few games.
Guimaraes is now a starter for Newcastle, with injuries handing him an opening. He’s started the last three games and impressed – even if the Magpies lost to Chelsea and then Everton.
He’s going to be a star for Newcastle, and a key player in the coming years. There’s a lot more to come, but the Brazil international is already loving his new home.
Bruno Guimaraes loving the adulation at Newcastle
The midfielder is currently away on international duty, but spoke to Globo Esporte about life at Newcastle.

“The fans are in love with me, which is something I did not even have at Athletico, where I was an idol and won one of the major titles in the history of the club,” he said, as translated by Sport Witness.
“The fans here have already made a chant, shirts with my photo. Shirt with several pictures of me. If I make a backward pass, it’s ‘Bruno! Bruno! Bruno!’. When I scored, they wanted to invade the pitch.
“It’s been too cool, I’m enjoying it so much here.”
Love will only grow for Bruno
Bruno clearly appreciates the love from fans, admitting it’s like nothing he has experienced before. And the love will only grow the more he improves in a Newcastle shirt.

We’ve already seen moments of magic from the Brazilian. His first cameo was exciting, even if it was only off the bench for a few minutes against Everton. The goal against Southampton was magical, while he also showed his passing brilliance in that game.
He was a defensive rock against Chelsea, then away at Everton he orchestrated proceedings in the first half.
Bruno has been made to feel very welcome on Tyneside. He’s already enjoying the move, and things will get even better in the coming years.
