Newcastle United fans want Bruno Guimaraes to be at St James’ Park for a long time – and that is also what Bruno wants.

Despite only being a season and a half into his Newcastle career, Bruno has been attracting interest from elsewhere.

First there was rumours about Real Madrid, then there was a claim that PSG are keen. Closer to home, it has been reported that Liverpool are big fans of the midfielder.

That is a testament to how well he has done since joining the Magpies in 2022, and is exactly why the club are trying to get him to sign a new contract. There have been claims that he could become the club’s highest ever earner.

Toon officials obviously want to keep the £40million man at the club, and fortunately that aligns with his ambitions.

Bruno Guimaraes ‘will’ stay at Newcastle

The 25-year-old has been speaking to TalkSPORT, and was asked if he plans to stay at Newcastle for a long time.

“Yeah I will,” he said.

“I’ve said that I’d like to put my name in the club’s history and I’m thinking that I’m in a good way.

“It’s still a lot to do but it’s lucky in my first full season we are fighting for the Champions League, for the big things, we’ve got one final already here, so yes I think I am in the right way to put my name in the club’s history.”

In the middle and going nowhere

Bruno is very vocal about his ambitions at Newcastle. He was very vocal when he first arrived too, stating his desire to play for the Magpies in the Champions League.

That looked like it was a long way away when the words first fell out his mouth. At the time we were battling relegation.

Now we are in the top four of the Premier League and look likely to qualify for Europe’s elite competition. Bruno doesn’t look so silly now, does he?

As long as Newcastle are growing as a club and going in the right direction, Bruno will surely want to be part of the project. He is adored on Tyneside by teammates, staff, owners and fans.

Bruno wants to become a Newcastle legend. Some will argue that he already is, but that desire will hopefully be what keeps him at St James’ Park long term.
