Real Madrid reportedly want to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

That’s according to Spanish outlet AS, who claim the Toon Army’s new hero is already wanted by another club.

Bruno joined Newcastle in January, arriving from Lyon for a fee that could rise to £42million. That would make him the Magpies’ most expensive signing ever.

He’s been worth it so far. We’ve seen it all from Bruno in such a short space of time. There’s been his majestic first goal – that audacious backheel volley. Then he got another two goals against Leicester, including that dramatic last second winner. On top of that, his glorious assist helped us beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

His four goal contributions have been exceptional, but even without them we’d still be raving about the Brazil international.

He’s transformed Newcastle’s midfield, and appears to be loving life at St James’ Park.

Real Madrid could move for Bruno Guimaraes after the World Cup

It’s no surprise that Bruno is doing so well for Newcastle. And it’s probably no surprise that a club as big as Real Madrid have their eye on him.

AS report that Los Blancos have Bruno’s name on a list of future midfield targets. They currently have some of the best midfielders in the world in Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, but they’re all on the wrong side of 30.

That’s why someone like Bruno is being watched.

The report adds any move would come after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Bruno will likely be there, becoming a mainstay for Brazil recently. They’re one of the tournament favourites.

The fact Real Madrid are interested highlights what an incredible deal Newcastle did in January. They stole a march on a whole host of major European clubs and are already reaping the rewards.

Bruno Guimaraes is already a Newcastle United hero, and hopefully he stays at St James’ Park for a long time. However, interest from Real Madrid is always hard to resist.
