Newcastle United have had plenty of injury scares heading into this weekend’s game against Brentford, one of which has been Elliot Anderson.
The 20-year-old was with Scotland during the international break, amid rumours that he was at the centre of a tug of war between them and England. Gareth Southgate even addressed the Newcastle player, and admitted that he was someone who the Three Lions were looking at.
Anderson pulled out of the Scotland squad due to injury, casting doubt over whether or not he would be fit for the upcoming Premier League clash with Brentford.
However, a new report states that he will be available, and has explained what really went on with the youngster during the international break.
Elliot Anderson is fit for Newcastle vs Brentford on Saturday
According to the Scottish Daily Express, Anderson is going to be fit and available for Newcastle’s game against Brentford on Saturday evening.

The report states that while he officially withdrew from the Scotland squad due to injury, the real reason he pulled out was that he was merely not enjoying his time training with Steve Clarke’s side.
While his international future is up in the air, this is great news for Eddie Howe. Anderson was impressive off the bench against Brighton in our last game, and will be hoping to get more minutes this weekend.

The academy graduate has shown flashes of excellence so far this season after a ‘brilliant‘ summer that saw him dubbed Newcastle’s star of pre-season. He will be eager to take that form into the Premier League and play more regularly for Howe.
If he can do that and impress then England could come calling in the future, and it sounds like he will wait for his chance with Southgate’s side rather than become a full Scotland international now.
