Bruno Guimaraes is in action for Brazil on Friday and he’s done something ‘outrageous’ for his country.
It’s the October international break, which has seen Newcastle United’s season put on pause for a fortnight.
The stop in play has come at an annoying time for Eddie Howe, who was just seeing his team begin to click after a difficult start to the new campaign.
Newcastle have faced much upheaval in recent months: Alexander Isak throwing the season’s plans into chaos as he forced through an exit, failing to sign top targets in the window, not having a striker in the opening games and now injuries ravaging the squad.
Yet, most of the new signings that did arrive are having a positive impact, and Newcastle picked up two dominant wins against Union SG and Nottingham Forest in their last outings.
One player who has remained as sensational as ever despite all the struggles, though, is star performer Bruno Guimaraes.
The captain already has two goals and three assists to his name for his club, and now he’s continuing his form for his country.

Bruno Guimaraes completes amazing assist for Brazil
With Brazil already safely qualified for the 2026 World Cup, they are only in friendly competition this week.
It’s still been a long trip to Asia for Guimaraes and Joelinton, with Brazil in action against South Korea on Friday afternoon.
Brazil are ahead in the first half, with Chelsea starlet Estevao grabbing the opener after 13 minutes.
Yet, it was Guimaraes who put the ball on a silver plate for him, as he played an outstanding throughball 40 yards from goal that split the Korean defence wide open for the winger to finish off.
Brazilian media have gone wild for the pass, with the TNT Sport Brazilian account posting on X, formerly Twitter: “BRAZIL’S GOAL WAS SCORED BY ESTEVAO, BUT BRUNO GUIMARAES’ ASSIST WAS OUTRAGEOUS!
“The midfielder found a beautiful pass between the lines and set Estevao up perfectly to score for Brazil!
“BG is playing INCREDIBLY for the Yellow and Green!”
When will Guimaraes and Joelinton return from international duty?
It’s fantastic to see Guimaraes continuing his fine form internationally, but Newcastle fans will just be hoping he and Joelinton return in one piece.
With Yoane Wissa, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Jacob Ramsey all sidelined, Howe can’t afford to lose any other players, especially his captain.
Dan Burn has even suffered an injury, breaking his hand, but thankfully, is able to play through it.
As Newcastle have become used to, Guimaraes and Joelinton are always the last to return from international duty due to the long miles they have to travel and the late kick-off times of their games in the UK.
Brazil are also in action against Japan on Tuesday but Asia is in front of England in time rather than behind like South America.
Kick-off against Japan is 11:30 am in the UK, so the duo can hopefully be back in Newcastle by Wednesday, plenty of time before the return to action against Brighton.
