Anthony Elanga explains how he first met Will Osula

Elanga and Osula have never played alongside each other at professional level until now, which has resulted in fans pondering how they became such close friends.

Newcastle United’s newest signing has the answer, with Elanga admitting in an interview on the club’s official website that he first met Osula when the Danish attacker came to Manchester United for a trial.

“He’s like my little brother,” Elanga said when asked about his friendship with Osula.

“I’ve known him for a long time. When I was at Manchester United, he came on trial when he was 12 so I’ve known him for a very long time.

“He’s not changed. He’s still the same Will Osula that everyone knows.

“He’s told me amazing things about the club. He’s one of the reasons that I wanted to come and join, he talked so highly of it [the club].

“Saw him today and couldn’t stop smiling.”

Will Osula has already reacted to Anthony Elanga signing for Newcastle United

Osula was posting on social media before Elanga’s move to Newcastle United, so it is no surprise that he has been quick to comment following confirmation of the deal.

He has posted a picture of himself and Elanga on his Instagram story, alongside the message: “Welcome my boy let’s go.”

It will be great to see them in action together. Hopefully their friendship translates to chemistry on the pitch.

The club have also leaned into Osula and Elanga’s friendship, posting a hilarious video on social media as part of the official announcement.

The clip shows Osula on the phone, saying: “Hello Anthony, it’s your agent, Will.”

The £10million man has pulled some strings, as Elanga becomes the first major signing at Newcastle United in two years. That is why there is so much hype surrounding this deal.

He will not be the last signing of the summer either. Newcastle United are also in the market for a centre-back, a goalkeeper and a striker. They could also sign a midfielder too if Sean Longstaff leaves.
