Alexander Isak nowhere to be seen in controversial Newcastle United announcement

Alexander Isak’s future is, sadly, the main topic of discussion at Newcastle United right now.

In the worst development possible for the club this summer, Isak has asked to leave Newcastle United after growing frustrated with life at the club.

Liverpool are set to bid for Isak, though it remains to be seen how the Newcastle United owners react.

Newcastle have long insisted Isak isn’t going anywhere this summer, but that resolve will only really be put to the test if and when an official offer is made.

While the mood music hasn’t sounded positive for Newcastle for a while, there’s still at least a hope the striker stays. Isak has three years left on his contract, and there’s no absolute guarantee that Liverpool can put a compelling enough offer together.

Still, the club did appear to drop something of a hint on Tuesday.

Alexander Isak left out of Newcastle United away kit reveal

Newcastle released their away kit for the 2025/26 season on Tuesday, while Eddie Howe’s team are away on a pre-season tour of Asia.

They have now reached South Korea, where they will play Team K-League on Wednesday in Suwon before meeting Tottenham on Sunday in Seoul.

Isak did not join Newcastle’s pre-season tour because of a minor thigh injury. That’s the official reason, although it’s hard to ignore that it’s all happening amid so much speculation over his future.

The Swedish striker, undoubtedly Newcastle’s star attraction, was not seen in the club’s images and videos of players wearing the new green strip.

Newcastle fans are unhappy with the new away kit, venting their frustration online after the reveal.

It should be noted that Isak isn’t the only player not involved but it’s certainly noteworthy given so much talk about him potentially leaving.

Alexander Isak has already worn Newcastle United’s new away kit

According to The Chronicle, Isak was involved in the club’s media duties when it came to getting ready to promote the new kit.

He, along with Callum Wilson, reportedly posed for photographs and videos wearing it.

That would suggest Newcastle hadn’t made decisions on either of their forwards at the time. Wilson, of course, left on a free transfer this summer.

Now, the sight of Isak wearing the new away kit may never be released to the public. If he ends up leaving, it’s hard to imagine those photos ever emerging.
